Ameya, The Dark Mother

Ameya is the First of the Celestial Triad. She is the destroyer of worlds, the being that keeps the universe in balance, the destruction that comes after creation.

Where is the beauty of creation if it exists eternally?

She is called 'The Dark Mother' for she despairs to see lives destroyed by her own hands, bloodshed and thousands of lives extinguished with the death she must bring. So before she crushes a planet's life in her grasp, she sings to them a lullaby with her soothing voice.

It is written in ancient text that when she sings, strong winds blow through the planet, waves become wall of tides, and the earth cracks and shakes.

She does not enjoy her role, and none of the other sisters envy her.

The Celestial Triad

The Celestial Triad, consisting of Lesedi, Ameya (The Dark Mother), and Eilidh (The Sun Goddess) is an illustration project of mine I started in 2022. It explores the concept of celestial objects and elements as Goddesses.

Ameya's title, "The Dark Mother", is a play on the term Dark Matter, which is a substance of unknown origins in science. It is apparently responsible for the acceleration of the universe's planet's floating away from each other, and is a substance that is theorized to be present around Black Holes. Her character and design is heavily based on this Dark Matter as its power and mystery  intrigued me, and suits what she represents; Destruction.
